Film Ideas

Introduction

As a group we put forward different ideas about certain genres and which genre would be the best for us to use. We came to the conclusion that we were going to make the final film based of mixing different bits from each f our ideas in order to involve the whole group.

Alphonse’s idea

Alphonse came up with the idea of doing Thriller. His ideal was about a debtor who didn’t have money to pay back his boss.

But one day he received a phone call from his boss demanding him to give back his money.Do to his lies and trick his boss give him 24 hours to pay back his money, because he was unreliable he didn’t manage to meet the deadline.

His boss loses his patience and he decided to do something about it. That’s when one day the victim was wondering about in streets until when he was ambushed by a group of men, with masks on and all blacked out. The next minute when he woke up he found himself in a dark room and he can barely speak.

Matthew’s idea

My idea was to make a 2 minute clip that was going to be of the genre Horror, I was going to make the clip work on the same basis of films such as Dawn Of The Dead, 28 Days Later, Diary Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, Zombie land and a few more.

The way in which I was going to go about it was going to be done by pretending to be a news crew that has discovered top-secret information about a virus that is causing humans to mutate, and they find out that the virus becomes un-containable.

The Clip would then go onto showing how the news crew trying to spread word of the virus to the innocent public but find out they were to late and have to have to struggle to survive.
Ryan’s idea

My idea was to do a small Action sequence based on a secret agent who is undercover following a group of teenagers. The secret agent is a part of a foreign kidnapping agency and he is trying to get closer to the teenagers so he can kidnap them and sell them. The secret agent would need specialised equipment and he would be violent towards them due to the fact that this was how he made a living and earned his money.
Mark’s idea

My idea was to do a Drama piece which followed a teenager being bullied in college. He would experience day to day bullying and feel secluded from life. He would also be seen to have no friends, and after school he would go home and study maths to only get bullied the next day.

The Preliminary Task

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

During our production task, we were made aware of a range of editing software's, that worked well in conjunction with our camcorder. Gradually we were introduced to different capabilities of the camcorder, such as zoom and slow-motion. This became of benefit as we were then able to structure our filming around our production tools. Shot List

First we see a Panning Long Shot of Ryan walking down a corridor/room, then a Medium Shot of Alphonse sitting down in the interview room is shown. then a Close Up Shot is used to show the key prop of his watch to show Ryan is late. Then a slight Tracking Shot is used to show Ryan's nervousness.

A Mid Shot of Ryan walking through the room to sit down is used and upon him sitting down a Two Shot is used to lead into Shot Reverse Shot to show the conversation between Alphonse and Ryan, another Close Up is then used to show Alphonse's hand point to the door to show the views that Ryan had been fired. A Medium Close Up was then used to show Ryan exiting the room and a Cutaway of his hand opening the door is used to emphasize the exit.

Preliminary Discussion

Through out the Preliminary we tried to make sure that the 180 Degree Rule was not broken, the rule was used in the scene when Alphonse and Ryan were in conversation, we also used a few fades whilst editing to make the clip flow better, a Cross Fade was also used when we done a close up of Alphonse's watch.

A soundtrack of Dizzee Rascal's - Off To Work was used in the first couple of scenes to let the viewers know that Ryan was 'Off to work', the Volume of the track is Slightly faded when Elliptical Editing is used to show Alphonse waiting.

Pros

• We met all the requirements for the preliminary task


• We had a storyline that made sense


• All of the group had a part to play in the making of the clip


• We added a sound-bridge to make some of the scenes more interesting


• We put all the different ideas the group had together to make it

Cons

• Storyline could have been more interesting


• We could have made the sound-bridge ourselves


• Could have included wider range of shots e.g: Point Of View Shot, Establishing Shot, Extreme Close Up, etc.
